Why first week of June? Late May has uncertain road conditions and chilly nights. First week of June is the sweet spot: Srinagar–Leh highway fully open, Manali–Leh reopens ~late May/early June, Pangong thawed to electric blue, daytime 18–25°C in Leh, thin pre-peak crowds. Schools don't close till mid-June so tourist surge hasn't hit. Nights are −5°C at Pangong — bring thermals. Book flights immediately — DEL→IXL in June costs ₹9,000–13,000 one-way vs ₹5,000 in October.
